Youth Triathlon Club

NextGen Triathlon Club

NextGen Tri Club provides a fun and safe environment for our youth ages 5-14 to experience the sport of triathlon and challenge themselves to be the best athlete they can be.  Our members participate in two to three triathlons a season, with our summer sessions culminating in the Captain Kids Triathlon – Coach Crash’s race!  Your athletes will do a little swimming, biking, and running each workout, learn how to race in a triathlon, and build the skills they need to experience success at the finish.

We also support both youth and adults in open water swimming, and encourage families to complete in the sport together.  We host the Shark Attack at Lake Longhorn  – an open water race  with Ironman distance swims.  The race is sanctioned under USAT and USMS – swimmers of all ages and experience levels can come out and experience a great swim in a clean, calm lake.  The race is held twice a year – typically in October and early June.

Training with NextGen Tri

NextGen offers services throughout the season and beyond to help your athlete experience success at the finish.

Spring Session

This five-week session meets weekly and leads up to the Houston Texans Triathlon.

Summer Sessions

The two six-week summer sessions lead up to the best Kids Tri around - Captain Kids!

The DOT group is based on Coach Crash's elite competitive triathlon team from his racing days. They work hard but still have fun, and serve as awesome role models for the team.

Open Water Swim

Head to the lake and learn the basics of open water swimming, or get some distance work in. We hold open water races too! Adult and youth swimmers are welcome. Training is kayak supported, of course!

Kiddos should be able to swim 25 yards unassisted to participate in NextGen.
USA Triathlon requires all athletes be able to ride a bike without training wheels to participate in USAT sanctioned races.
